Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. (John 15:4 NIV)

THE STORIES THAT JESUS TOLD
In his teachings, Jesus often told stories to the crowds to help them understand truths about God and life. These narrations are often called parables because they are earthly stories that parallel heavenly truths. When you read and seek to understand the stories that Jesus told in the Bible, it is like cutting into an onion. As you cut open an onion, you discover many hidden layers. As you read a story of Jesus, you also discover many layered truths that are contained within. And these truths in their personal applications will bring tears to your eyes. Join us as we examine some of the many stories of Jesus in this sermon series.
Lord's Supper, Sunday, October 5
"Check Your Attitude at the Door" Luke 18:10-14
(Parable of the Pharasee and Tax Collector)
The story of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector is an interesting lesson about pride and humility. In this story, two men went to church to pray to God for different reasons. Only one went home finding himself closer to God. Join us as we explore the dangers of pride and the benefits of humility. This service will include our monthly celebration of the Lord's Supper.
Sunday, October 12
"The Friend at Midnight " Luke 11:1-13
Have you ever had someone to keep asking you for something until you agreed to do it? Persistence does pay off. Jesus was once asked by his disciples to teach them to pray. He said they needed to ask, then seek, and knock until the door opens. One lesson that he taught is that we should not give up simply because our prayers are not answered the first time that we pray. Come and learn how to pray more effectively to God.
Sunday, October 19th
"Use It or Lose It" Matthew 25:14-30
(The Parable of the Talents)
All the way through scripture, Jesus challenges us to invest our time and talents in the kingdom of god. The dividends are out of this world. In the parable of the talents, Jesus shows that God does not honor those who claim to be afraid and bury their talents in the back yard. Are you hiding your talents from the Lord? Are you giving back to God with your time and your talents? Join us and be encouraged to serve god.
Stewardship Sunday, October 26
"The Rewards of Giving" II Corinthians 9:6-15
A great truth is that generous giving is taken by God and made into multiple blessings. There are bountiful blessings for the giver, bountiful blessings for the ones who have their needs met, and bountiful blessings that overflow with thanksgiving to God. Through giving, God is glorified and we are blessed. Jesus himself said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Come and learn how to trust God to meet your needs as you participate in giving.
Lord's Supper, Sunday, November 2
"The Treasure Hunt" Matthew 13:44-46
(The Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl)
Jesus used the stories of a treasure hunt and the search for a rare pearl to show the enormous value of the kingdom of God and going to heaven. If living for Jesus and going to heaven is everything that He said it was, we should not stop until we know that we are going to spend eternity with Him. This service will include our monthly celebration of the Lord's Supper.
Sunday, November 9
"The Rich Fool" Luke 12:16-21
(The Parable of the Rich Fool)
In the parable of the rich fool, Jesus teaches us that the pursuit of worldly success can often lead us astray in our lives and ultimately in where we spend eternity. Worldly success often leads us to forget our neighbors, forget our God, and forget our soul. Come and listen as Jesus challenges us to avoid the foolish ways of this world.
Sunday, November 16
"God Forgives and So Should You" Matthew 18:23-34
(The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant)
Jesus once told the story of a man who would not forgive and because of that found himself in serious trouble with his boss. Too many times we expect God’s forgiveness, but find it hard or difficult to forgive others. This message will remind us that we must always be willing to forgive.
Thanksgiving Sunday, November 23
"How to Thank God" Matthew 25:31-41
The Parable of the Sheep and Goats
Would you like to learn how to have God say, "Well done!" when you stand before Him one day in judgement? The answer is found in the parable of the sheep and goats as told by Jesus. Join us and learn what really impresses God.
Sunday, November 30
"Preparing for Christmas" Isaiah 40:1-8
At this time of the year, we are making preparations for the coming of Christmas but are we making preparations for the coming of the Lord? This message will help us to keep Christ at the center of the Christmas season as we honor His birth. Join us as we light the Christmas candle of hope.
Sunday, December 7
"The Peace of Christmas" John 1:1-13
It is amazing that Jesus Christ came down from heaven to earth as a little baby to be born and live among us. What is more amazing is that since God was made a child we too can become his children. Come and explore with us how we can become God's children and be peacemakers in a troubled world. Join us as we light the Christmas candle of peace.
Sunday, December 14
"The Joy of Christmas" Luke 1:26-38
Babies come into the world as a blessing to us and to those around us. They bring great joy. Come and explore with us what we can learn from the miracle of Jesus through the eyes of his parents, Mary and Joseph. Join us as we light the Christmas candle of joy.
