Nurturing Spirituality

Reverend Patricia Hailes Fears
Pastor, Fellowship Baptist Church

Session Description

Spirituality is the by-product of a relationship with Jesus. And a relationship with Jesus is just like any relationship—it’s healthiest when it is consistently engaged and deeply cherished. Throughout the New Testament we are reminded that we carry the Spirit of the living Christ in our souls, the same Spirit that Christ sent to be our advocate and our comforter. We need Christ’s presence for our souls to survive and bear the fruits of his Spirit. Most great works begin with a plan. With personal effort and prayer, each of us can find ways to nurture our spiritual growth that fit our own circumstances. This session will focus on how spiritual growth can be nurtured.

Speaker Biography

Rev. Patricia Hailes Fears is a daughter of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was called to be the second pastor of Fellowship in October of 2016. She is a native of New Bedford, Mass but has called Washington, DC home for a number of years. Reverend Fears served Fellowship Baptist Church enthusiastically, and creatively and prior to becoming Pastor she served at the Westover Baptist Church in Arlington, Virginia. Reverend Fears has a passion to serve the Lord and a creative spirit. Her ministerial resume includes youth, health, and educational leadership. Humbly submitting to the irresistible call, Reverend Fears was ordained, she believes, to preach the simple message of God’s love, compassion and requirements to a world constricted by complexity. Reverend Fears is actively involved in the DC Baptist Convention, a charter member of Faith Strategies, an ecumenical social justice organization, and co-founder of Sister Clergy.
